Dr. Efrat Arbel is an associate professor in the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia and a member of the Bar of British Columbia. Dr. Arbel has expertise in trauma-informed practice, application of tort law to immigration detention, the impact of border restrictions on refugees, and treatment of gender identity/expression in refugee decision-making. She does advocacy and litigation for refugee and prisoner rights, training for Immigration and Refugee Board’s Gender Taskforce, and is an advisor to BC Immigration Holding Center Support Program.
