To All Members of the Carleton Community,
The bargaining teams for the university and CUPE Local 4600, representing both the university’s teaching assistants (Unit 1) and contract instructors (Unit 2), have been engaged in collective bargaining for the last seven months. This bargaining has been taking place at two separate bargaining tables, as there are two separate collective agreements.
Over the course of bargaining, the teams have had many useful discussions and have reached agreement on a number of issues.
Last Wednesday, the CUPE 4600 - Unit 2 bargaining team requested the assistance of a Ministry of Labour- appointed conciliator to help move the process forward. While the teams wait for the appointment of a conciliator, talks continue.
Negotiations continue also between the university and CUPE 4600 - Unit 1.
The bargaining teams look forward to continuing to work together to achieve negotiated collective agreements that reflect the important role teaching assistants and contract instructors play in the education of Carleton students.
