About the Position:

The School of Social Work invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure track appointment at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2021. An appointment with tenure is possible, depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate.

Candidates will be expected to have active research programs and teaching competencies that reflect the diversity of Indigenous peoples across Canada, including First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples.  Candidates will have developed expertise in Indigenous issues, for example: Social work based on Indigenous knowledge and/or Indigenizing social work education. A variety of methodological approaches are welcome and encouraged.

Persons who identify as Indigenous and who have connections in Indigenous communities are particularly encouraged to apply. Experience working with Indigenous organizations and governments would be an asset.

About the Academic Unit:

The School is committed to progressive and critical approaches to social work and offers social work programs at the Bachelor, Masters and PhD levels, with outstanding research expertise in social work education, social welfare policy, Indigenous knowledges, immigration and refugee issues, trauma and care work, and clinical practice. This position requires a BSW or MSW degree and a PhD (ABD and completed PhDs will be considered) in social work or a related field. Successful candidates will have social work experience working with settler and Indigenous peoples; and a commitment to Indigenous and decolonizing frameworks for practice. We seek a candidate who demonstrates strong potential for innovative and scholarly research on Indigenous issues.

Candidates must demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions and an aptitude for teaching courses at the BSW, MSW and doctoral level.

Candidates with interest and experience in relational, collective and collaborative approaches to research and teaching are preferred.
