About the Position:
The Department of Electronics invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track appointment in machine learning in electrical engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2021.
The candidate will be expected to establish and lead an independent externally funded research program in the field of machine learning in electrical engineering including collaborations with internal and external partners. The candidate will be required to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels and supervise student projects and thesis research. The candidate is also expected to contribute to the operation and development of the academic unit and the University including program and curriculum development.

About the Academic Unit:
The Department of Electronics is a research-intensive department with an active community including 28 full time faculty. The department is primarily responsible for delivering undergraduate programs in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, and Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering and supports several other programs within the faculty. The department features outstanding research expertise in design automation, circuit design, semiconductor devices, electromagnetics, photonics, power and energy systems. The position requires a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, and current membership in a professional engineering association in Canada or ability to obtain membership within 3 years of appointment. Candidates should provide evidence of research and teaching excellence. The candidate requires a background in machine learning and its application to problems in electrical engineering. This may involve novel applications of machine learning in any area of electrical engineering, including antennas, communications, controls, devices, hardware design, power and energy, sensor systems, or signal processing. The candidate should develop a research plan that complements current research activities in the Department of Electronics.
