In light of COVID-19 and the unprecedented challenges that it has put before post-secondary institutions, both in Canada and globally, the University and CUPE Local 4600, Unit 2 met today to discuss how best to convert summer teaching contracts from in-person to remote teaching. This discussion, which was separate and apart from the current collective bargaining that is underway, was approached with a view to ensure the health and safety of the entire Carleton community, and a shared desire to provide Carleton students with quality summer courses. Both parties have agreed that all existing summer contracts will automatically be converted to web sections by April 6. Contract Instructors who have already accepted a summer teaching contract but who do not wish to teach a web section, will need to notify their Chair/Director of this intent by April 6.
