As Provost and Vice-President (Academic), I would like to welcome you to Carleton University! Whether you are a teacher or a researcher or both, I invite you to consider Carleton University as the place to begin the next chapter of your academic career.
Founded in 1942, Carleton University was established in the Ottawa community to provide higher education for veterans and others who were making the transition from the armed forces and war economy. Today, Carleton University has six Faculties, including the Arts and Social Sciences, Public Affairs, Science, Engineering and Design, the Sprott School of Business, and Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs that are supported by the Maxwell MacOdrum Library. Our University has more than 27,000 full- and part-time students undertaking studies at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in over 65 programs.
If you are interested in pursuing a career as a professor, instructor, or librarian at our University, I encourage you review our faculty opportunities posted on the Faculty Affairs website. At Carleton, we are proud to have a complement of over 840 academic staff who are nationally and internationally recognized for their expertise and accomplishments in their disciplines.
If you are considering teaching individual course(s) in your area of expertise, I urge you to peruse the websites of our departments/academic units for more information about the teaching opportunities that are currently available. There are over 670 contract instructors (sessionals) working at Carleton who share their experiences and knowledge with our students as part of our educational team.
If you are interested in collaborating with Carleton University’s academics in your area of research expertise or in others ways, I invite you to consider an honorary rank appointment. Carleton has over 600 adjunct professors, adjunct research professors, distinguished research professors, professors emeritus, visiting professors, visiting scholars (instructors), and in-residences appointments who located across Canada and the world.
I wish you all the best for your future and, if you are looking for an academic career, I hope that you will consider Carleton University.
