About the Building

The University Commons is the hub of residence life. Most students in residence meet here for their meals. The building also contains:

  • Fenn Lounge
  • Offices such as the Rideau River Residence Association
  • A convenience store

About the Renaming Process

We are engaging Black communities in a process to name Residence Commons. The Advisory Council that will guide the naming of the Residence Commons is comprised of:

  • Patrice Smith, Dean, Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs (co-chair)
  • Asha Berbeck, Undergraduate Student (Bachelor of Science Honours)

  • Ranilce Mascarenhas Guimaraes-Iosif, Fusion Project Officer, Teaching and Learning Services
  • Mawuena Torkornoo, External Relations Manager, Sprott School of Business
  • Dwaine Taylor, Equity, Diversity, and Community Programs Coordinator, Student Experience Office
