About the Program

Carleton University and the University of Ottawa joined the Scholars at Risk (SAR) network in 2014. Together, the universities will co-host a scholar through the program for one year appointments.

2015-16 Carleton University Scholars at Risk: Annual Report 2016

SAR is an international network of higher education institutions dedicated to protecting threatened scholars, preventing attacks on higher education communities and promoting academic freedom worldwide. The network protects scholars suffering grave threats to their lives, liberty and well-being by arranging positions of sanctuary at institutions in the network. SAR is not just about providing refuge, it also benefits the local academic community.

For more information, please see our Carleton Students for Scholars at Risk page and please visit uOttawa’s Scholar at Risk program website as well as the Scholars at Risk Network from New York University.
