id=\"carleton-university-indigenous-strategic-initiatives-committee-cuisic\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Carleton University Indigenous Strategic Initiatives Committee (CUISIC)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-image-24025\"\/><figcaption>CUISIC Co-Chairs lead an on-campus consultation session<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/indigenousinitiatives\/\">Carleton University Indigenous Strategic Initiatives Committee (CUISIC)<\/a> was formed in Fall 2018 to devise a concrete response to the federal government\u2019s Truth and Reconciliation Commission and forge stronger relationships with Inuit, First Nation and M\u00e9tis on campus, in the Ottawa region and across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by co-chairs Benny Michaud, Kahente Horn-Miller and Jerry Tomberlin, the committee is more than halfway through its mandate and has conducted more than 30 consultations \u2013 on campus and off \u2013 that included more than 370 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image wp-image-24026 size-medium\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img Officer Theresa Hendricks<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>CUISIC was endorsed by Carleton\u2019s Board of Governors and Senate, which both passed formal motions showing full support of the committee\u2019s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supported by <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/indigenousinitiatives\/2019\/special-projects-officer\/\">Special Projects Officer Theresa Hendricks<\/a>, the committee is comprised of 33 members, which includes a broad representation of people from across campus and Indigenous communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"hiring-indigenous-faculty\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hiring Indigenous Faculty<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In January 2019, Carleton University and Carleton University Academic Staff Association (CUASA) issued a joint statement on working in partnership toward the goal of recruiting ten additional Indigenous tenure-track faculty members over the next two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"more-in-this-section\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">More
