\n Get to Know Brightspace, Carleton\u2019s New LMS\n <\/h1>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n\n\n

To All Members of the Carleton Community,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are now just two weeks away from launching Brightspace as Carleton\u2019s new Learning Management System (LMS). As of May 6, Brightspace by D2L<\/a> will replace cuLearn for all academic courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We understand this might be a big adjustment. Please be assured that Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) can help guide you through this process. There are a number of avenues available for you to get started and build your familiarity with Brightspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Take part in technical demonstrations:<\/strong> Get to know the new system through a short video tour<\/a>, which provides an overview of the interface and information on basic course setup. You can also view example courses by enrolling in the Brightspace Example Course<\/a>, the Brightspace Tools Course<\/a> and the Brightspace Basics Online Course<\/a>. There are also a variety of upcoming workshops<\/a> to help you prepare for your online course setup.<\/li>
  2. Consult with TLS staff: <\/strong>As you plan your course in Brightspace, you will need to consider whether you would like to start fresh or review and use existing content that has been migrated from cuLearn. TLS staff members are ready to assist and advise through one-on-one consultations<\/a>.<\/li>
  3. Explore online resources: <\/strong>Visit the Brightspace Support<\/a> website to explore a range of resources and guides. You will find solutions for any needed fixes to migrated cuLearn activities<\/a>, as well as Brightspace Course Setup resources<\/a>, which include course templates, a Brightspace glossary<\/a> and a Course Setup Guide<\/a>. A Quiz Question Migration Guide<\/a> is also available for those using quizzes and migrated question banks.<\/li>
  4. Attend the Brightspace Showcase series: <\/strong>In the winter 2021 term, 27 instructors piloted 31 courses in Brightspace. These instructors are sharing their experiences with the Carleton community through the Brightspace Showcase series<\/a>. Watch the Brightspace Journeys: Instructor Testimonials<\/a> video, attend Brightspace Panel Showcase<\/a> or Welcome to My Brightspace Classroom<\/a> sessions, or read more about what it was like teaching with Brightspace for the first time<\/a>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    We look forward to launching Brightspace on May 6 and starting the summer term with a faster, more reliable system and new ways to engage students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
