Pauline Rankin announced the appointment of Dr. Ronald Miller as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design for a five-year term, effective July 1, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/provost\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/98\/2025\/05\/ron-miller-350x388-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"Man's head shot with light hair, glasses, smiling, black blazer and light blue collared shirt. \n\" class=\"wp-image-31941\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRon\u2019s extensive experience, leadership and deep commitment to the Faculty of Engineering and Design make him well-suited for this role,\u201d said Rankin, who chaired the search advisory committee. \u201cThank you to the members of the decanal search advisory committee for their dedication to this process and please join me in congratulating Ron on this well-deserved appointment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Miller has served as Interim Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design since August 2025. A Chancellor\u2019s Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Dr. Miller previously served as department chair from 2016 to 2024. During that time, he led the department through two successful Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board accreditations and played a key role in developing Carleton\u2019s Collaborative Climate Change Specialization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Miller holds a PhD from Brown University and completed postdoctoral research at Harvard University. His research bridges physics, chemistry and materials science to advance understanding of materials performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Design,\u201d said Miller. \u201cI look forward to continuing to work with faculty, staff and students to further strengthen our programs, grow our research impact and build deep and meaningful community engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Carleton University Provost and Vice-President (Academic) L.
