Taking that step can provide valuable clarity and help you better understand your interests. For me, applying to work in a clinical environment was a pivotal decision—without it, I may not have discovered the path I am on now. Trying new opportunities, even when there is uncertainty, can be an important part of narrowing down your direction and building confidence in your career choices.“

Brief description of what I do!

I am the Director of Neurofeedback and a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at MindSpa Mental Health Centre. I take a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, with an emphasis on creating a safe, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic environment.

My work often incorporates a bottom-up perspective, integrating modalities such as Polyvagal Theory, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-Focused approaches. I aim to support clients in building insight, strengthening self-regulation, and fostering meaningful, lasting change.

Pursuing Graduate Studies or other Education?

Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and Board Certification in Neurofeedback (BCN)

What inspired your career path after graduation?

I began working as a Neurofeedback Technician during my undergraduate degree and found a passion for helping people by looking at the brain. It encouraged me to think more deeply about how people make meaning of their experiences and ultimately guided me toward pursuing a career in the helping professions. The program provided a foundation that continues to inform my interest in understanding and supporting others.

What skills or experiences were most valuable after graduation?

The most valuable skill I developed after graduation has been critical thinking, particularly the ability to thoughtfully understand and respond to complex human experiences.
