She is currently pursuing further college studies while gaining practical experience as a summer student working for OC Transpo with the City of Ottawa.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"not-prose cu-quote cu-component-spacing\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;<strong>It\u2019s okay to pause. There is a lot of value in taking time to explore your interests, stay curious and not rush into your next steps. If you want to revisit school later, that option will always be there.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 id=\"brief-description-of-what-i-do\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\"><strong><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Brief description of what I do!<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I am a <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Graphic Design student<\/strong> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.algonquincollege.com\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.algonquincollege.com\/\">Algonquin College<\/a>, where I have developed skills across a variety areas from Web Design, and Typography applying a variety of technical skills to projects. During the summer, I work with the Creative Production Team at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.octranspo.com\/en\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.octranspo.com\/en\/\">OC Transpo<\/a> designing graphics and communication outputs for transit initiatives and city events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"what-inspired-your-career-path-after-graduation\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">What inspired your career path after graduation?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>After graduation, I worked as a researcher at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheo.on.ca\/en\/index.aspx\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.cheo.on.ca\/en\/index.aspx\">CHEO <\/a>and developed a strong interest in applied research and the importance of knowledge transition when it came to research. I had an opportunity to create infographics during my position, and this task was what inspired me to rethink my career path, combining my interest in creativity in my decision to pursue a design program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"how-did-your-experience-in-the-psychology-program-shape-your-journey\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">How did your experience in the psychology program shape your journey?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The experimental stream in graduate studies helped me deepen my understanding of developmental psychology through coursework, research\/manuscript development, and the data collection experience. These skills and experiences helped shape my career path to better position me for research-focused roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"what-skills-or-experiences-were-most-valuable-after-graduation\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What skills or experiences were most valuable after graduation?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The most valuable skills I gained after graduation were project management, attention to detail, communication skills (writing and presenting), and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"are-there-specific-psychology-courses-professors-or-experiences-that-stood-out-during-your-time-at-carleton\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Are there specific Psychology courses, professors, or experiences that stood out during your time at Carleton?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Psychology courses helped strengthen my critical thinking skills, particularly Developmental Theories, which consistently challenged my thinking. I also had a supportive lab environment that made the experience memorable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"what-has-been-a-highlight-or-proud-moment-in-your-career-so-far\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">What has been a highlight or proud moment in your career so far?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A highlight in my career so far is my willingness to explore new directions. I&#8217;m proud of having the courage to switch my path toward something more aligned with my passions.
