After completing her Ph.D. in Psychology<\/strong> with a concentration in Quantitative Methods in 2021, Megan<\/strong> began her career in research operations. She now serves as a Research Operations Specialist<\/strong> at IWK Health<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Brief description of what I do!<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I provide specialized and efficient services supporting the identification, development, and dissemination of operational processes in the administration of research at IWK Health<\/strong>. I maintain Research & Innovation Advancement policies, SOPs, and guidelines and oversee the delivery of the Research Review process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What inspired your career path after graduation?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

As at graduate student I enjoyed working part-time at CHEO <\/strong>and anticipated that IWK Health <\/strong>would provide a similar work environment. I was also interested in learning more about the administrative side of clinical research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did your experience in the psychology program shape your journey?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I loved my time at Carleton. I developed strong relationships with my peers and mentors and felt encouraged to explore a less traditional path post-graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What skills or experiences were most valuable after graduation?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The skills that were most valuable after graduation were time management, assertiveness, research methodology and statistics, and collaboration. I also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship<\/strong> with Dr. Andrea Howard<\/a> during which time I was able to gain experience in leadership, writing process documents, honing my quantitative skills, and exploring new areas of developmental psychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are there specific Psychology courses, professors, or experiences that stood out during your time at Carleton?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Drs. Andrea Howard<\/a> and Anne Bowker<\/a> were amazing mentors. I was also fortunate to TA for Janet Mantler<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What has been a highlight or proud moment in your career so far?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
