Researchers in the Applied Psychology area focus their efforts broadly on an examination of how psychological theory and an understanding of human capabilities can be used to solve practically-oriented, \u201creal-world\u201d problems, which is done in laboratory and field settings, including educational, business, government, military, and health contexts. Current core faculty members are examining a range of topics including employee recruitment and retention, negotiation and conflict resolution in the context of program and policy evaluation, the application of psychology to aerospace and systems engineering, medical decision-making and patient safety, and the development of more effective interactive, human-oriented computer technologies. This research is conducted by drawing on a range of research methodologies, including cutting-edge visualization and simulation techniques.<\/p>\n
