Designing your program<\/h2>\n

B.A. program<\/h3>\n

Six of your 15.0 credits will be in psychology. You may choose your other courses from other disciplines of interest.<\/p>\n

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)<\/a> in Psychology provides a good foundation for occupations that deal with psychological issues, but is not intended to prepare you for a career as a professional Psychologist.<\/p>\n

Honours programs<\/h3>\n

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences offers a four-year Honours program leading to a B.A. (Honours)<\/a> in Psychology.<\/p>\n

The Faculty of Science offers a four-year Honours program leading to a B.Sc. (Honours)<\/a> in Psychology.<\/p>\n

Both the BA (Honours) and the BSc (Honours) in Psychology require 20.0 credits for the degree; nine of these credits are from psychology.<\/p>\n

In addition to a number of core courses in fourth year, Honours students either design and carry out a supervised research Thesis or participate in a Project class.<\/p>\n

The B.A. (Combined Honours)<\/a> in Psychology program allows you to combine your studies in psychology with studies in another discipline.<\/p>\n

Minor<\/h3>\n

A minor in psychology<\/a> is open to all undergraduate students in programs other than psychology.<\/p>\n

Students can only complete one Psychology Minor as part of their degree program.<\/p>\n

Concentrations<\/h3>\n

A concentration<\/a> is a way of enhancing your degree by selecting a group of 2nd<\/sup>, 3rd<\/sup>, and 4th<\/sup>\u00a0year courses that are thematically related. If you are passionate about one of our areas of research, the relevant concentration will provide you with a \u201croad map\u201d that will help you choose the very best courses for you.<\/p>\n

In addition, your concentration will be formally recognized when you graduate. Your diploma will explicitly state \u201cBA (or BSc) in Psychology with a concentration in [the area that you have chosen]\u201d.<\/p>\n

You will be able to use it to show future employers or graduate programs that you have acquired expertise in an area of psychology that goes beyond the typical undergraduate degree.<\/p>\n

Core courses<\/h3>\n

Your first year will include an introductory course that highlights what psychology offers and describes its basis as an experimental science.<\/p>\n

In second year, you will take courses in research methods, statistics and in specialized areas within the discipline. These courses are the core of our undergraduate programs, providing you with a sound foundation for further study.<\/p>\n

In third year, you will take courses that deal with specific areas relating to your own interests and will receive an excellent foundation in research methods and data analysis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
