Short Bio<\/strong><\/p>\n

Zainab Musa Shallangwa is a Lecturer in the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. She holds a Binational doctoral degree from the University of Hildesheim, Germany, and the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. Since 2021, Zainab has served on the Steering Committee of the DAAD – SDG Graduate School- Performing Sustainability, Cultures and Development in West Africa. Zainab is A 2021 fellow of the Society of American Learned Societies (ACLS)\/ Africa Humanities Program (AHP), Marie S. Curie-S\/FRIAS COFUND Junior Fellow (2022), A DAAD Museumslab fellow (2022) and a member of the Society of Nigerian Artists.<\/p>\n

Research Interests<\/strong>
\nMy research interests include cultural sustainability, cultural memory, museums, heritage issues and recently, gender, particularly within the challenging contexts of conflict, forced displacement and resettlement.<\/p>\n

Expectations as a QES Scholar during the Mobility Period<\/strong>
\nAs the name suggests, \u201cWurinta na yin rubutu\u201d I expect that QES will offer me a serene, convenient and conducive working space as well as grant me access to robust libraries with recent and relevant literature in my field. These will undoubtedly enhance my research by granting me wurin rubutu (the room\/space to write). I hope to leverage on the mentorship and placement components of this scholarship to improve on my technical and soft skills as a researcher, teacher and mentor.
\nThrough colloquia and seminars, I hope to discuss my research project with a view to eliciting critical feedback that will better shape the outcome of my work. During this period, I hope to make new friends and expand my network which may open vistas for collaboration on future projects.<\/p>\n

The QES Project and Advancement of your Career<\/strong>
\nThe fellowship will also offer me the opportunity to set aside (for a while), regular academic duties in my home University, so that I can focus more on my research work.
