Unveiling the Impact: My QES Experience by Dr. Sophia Abiri-Franklin<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

I begin this journey of reflection by extending my heartfelt gratitude to Carleton University and the generous sponsors of the award. Recounting my time at Carleton, the rewards far exceeded my initial expectations. Even now, as I look back, the echoes of that experience continue to reverberate through my professional and personal life.<\/p>\n

As part of the program’s requirements, I delved into the task of documenting my journey – the motivations that led me to Carleton, the entire award process, and the transformative moments it held. To my surprise, the depth of my gains surpassed my initial estimations. The QES experience, I now firmly believe, is a venture every scholar and career enthusiast should embark upon.<\/p>\n

Broadened Horizons: A Glimpse into My Achievements<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Throughout this enriching project, I accomplished significant milestones. Notably, I crafted a comprehensive toolkit for my research, receiving invaluable technical support. Attending conferences and forging new connections expanded my professional network. My time with “New Life Project” not only provided exposure but also opened doors to numerous collaboration platforms, crucial for orchestrating future impactful initiatives.<\/p>\n

In the academic realm, a pivotal advantage emerged – the opportunity to publish my work and contribute to the body of knowledge. Engaging in seminars and workshops further enriched my understanding of the intricacies within my field.<\/p>\n

Empower<\/strong>ing<\/strong> Through Communication<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

One of the most rewarding aspects of this experience was the opportunity to address women, igniting their confidence to pursue their dreams. Witnessing their transformation was a poignant reminder of the power of encouragement and support.<\/p>\n

Taking charge of strategic meetings and retreats for the organization’s leadership was an enlightening exercise in leadership. Mentoring administrative staff provided a platform for
\nmutual growth and development.<\/p>\n

A Flourishing Network<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Networking, a skill I honed meticulously during my stay at Carleton, proved to be a critical asset. Recognizing the brevity of my time, I seized every opportunity to connect, fostering lifelong relationships. Pre-research interactions on platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, and WhatsApp, coupled with thoughtful engagement, became a cornerstone of sustainable connections.<\/p>\n

The QES experience significantly enriched my personal and professional networks. Being listed as an ambassador of Babcock University in both 2022 and 2023 elevated my profile, opening doors to new opportunities. Engagements on platforms like LinkedIn have connected me with influential figures in my field. Elevated Leadership and Communication Skills Leadership skills burgeoned organically as I took the reins to ensure our collective experience was maximized. Fostering a culture of empathy and support was paramount, ensuring everyone’s needs were considered. Improved communication was a direct result of my interactions. Articulating thoughts and research ideas became second nature, particularly during significant engagements, such as our visit to the High Commission.<\/p>\n

Catalyst for Global Competencies<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

\nThe experience catalyzed my professional trajectory. I now find myself sought after for interdisciplinary research projects, a testament to the expertise and knowledge I gained during
\nmy time at Carleton.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on this transformative journey, I am reminded of two pivotal lessons. Firstly, time is a precious commodity; seizing opportunities and steering one’s destiny are paramount to success. Secondly, faith, coupled with effective communication, mentorship, and leadership, form the bedrock of personal and professional triumphs.<\/p>\n
