- Custodial Services Benchmarking Project - Physical Plant
-
The cleanliness of the campus has been an ongoing concern for our student, faculty, and staff as indicated in the Finance and Administration Satisfaction Surveys of 2002 and 2003. This project examined custodial services provided to clean the interior of campus buildings (excluding the residences, the Colonel By Daycare Centre, the CTTC, and the NWRC). We looked at the current types of services being delivered, and the cost.
The team’s recommendations have been accepted by the Benchmarking Steering Committee with some changes. The Physical Plant Department is moving forward with the implementation plan. The implementation of the recommendations is expected to improve the way that we manage the custodial services operation.
- Time-to-Fill Benchmarking Project - Human Resources
-
The 2002 and 2003 Human Resources’ results of the Finance and Administration Employee Satisfaction Survey indicated that our internal customers wanted improvement in the length of time that it takes to fill a vacancy. This project measured the current process from the time that an incumbent submits his/her resignation through to the time that a candidate begins working. The benchmarking process looked at each step of the process to determine where changes could be made to improve the efficiency.
The recommendations were successfully implemented. As a result, a new electronic recruitment system was purchased and installed which has helped to streamline the hiring process.
