- Employee Recognition and Wellness Benchmarking Project – Human Resources

The purpose of this project is to provide quality, valued and meaningful employee recognition and wellness programs for all Carleton University employees.
The goals of this project are to:
- Recognize valued behaviours and service;
- Assist managers at all levels to recognize valued behaviours and employees;
- Motivate employees, highlight and reinforce valued behaviours that contribute to the overall success of our employees and the institution;
- Increase employee and manager participation in recognition programs; and
- Expand awareness of, and encourage participation in, health and wellness practices to improve employee health, job satisfaction, and engagement.The team’s recommendations have been accepted by the Benchmarking Steering Committee. The Department of Human Resources has put together an implementation plan, and is engaged in carrying out the recommendations.

The purpose of this project is to review the policies and practices for awarding and administering undergraduate scholarships to ensure that they are aligned with Carleton’s strategic themes and with the institutional enrolment and retention plan.
The goals of this project are to:
- To describe, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding the current policies and practices of awarding and administering: renewable entrance scholarships, in-course scholarships, and department scholarships;
- To document the patterns of scholarship recipients;
- To recommend improvements regarding the administrative effectiveness and efficiency of our scholarship policies; and
- To re-visit the balance between scholarship as a reward for exceptional academic merit and scholarships as a recruitment tool and to recommend if some change in the balance should be considered.
The team’s recommendations have been accepted by the Benchmarking Steering Committee. The Awards Office has put together an implementation plan, and is engaged in carrying out the recommendations.
- Textbook/Coursepack Adoption Process Benchmarking Project - Bookstore

The purpose of this project is to streamline the textbook/coursepack adoption process, to increase the number of texts ordered, and to improve the timeliness of the orders received at the Carleton University Bookstore.
The goals of this project are to:
- Increase the number of texts ordered from the Bookstore;
- Increase the number of texts available in the Bookstore;
- Increase the availability of used textbooks;
- Improve the timeliness of receiving orders; and
- Improve the communication of faculty regarding the impact of changing textbooks.
The team’s recommendations have been accepted by the Benchmarking Steering Committee. The Bookstore has put together an implementation plan, and is engaged in carrying out the recommendations.
