The goal of this benchmarking project is to develop a detailed roadmap outlining an implementable plan for the corporate web offering of Carleton University to enhance the service it provides to its target audiences through the adoption of industry best practices.
The objectives of this project are to:
- To enhance the delivery of web-based communications to Carleton’s key target audiences and ensure Carleton’s web offering is aligned with best practices.
- To better leverage web-based communications tools & channels to improve the experience of Carleton.ca users, and to enhance the university’s ability to engage them.
- To determine how web-based communications tools might be used create efficiencies in the delivery of news and information about Carleton to its key internal and external target audiences.

- Centralized Space Booking - University Services

The goal of this benchmarking project is to develop a comprehensive plan for the implementation of a centralized booking structure to manage non-classroom space on campus.
The objectives of this project are to:
- To identify best practices in the management of space within the organization including ownership, authority, booking conflicts and transparency
- To investigate and recommend possible systems to facilitate centralized booking on campus
- To use the information above to formulate an implementation plan for the future booking of non-academic space on campus

The goal of this project is to identify and recommend a set of practical policies, guidelines and tools to continue to improve communication to all students.
The objectives of this project can be broken down into two groups:
Governance & Processes:
- Determine an owner or administrative units responsible for the ongoing governance of student communication across the University, including the selection and use of tools/systems used in student communication
- Recommend guidelines/policies/processes that the Carleton administrative community can use to ensure consistency and value in communication to students
- Develop communication requirements in order to select the appropriate tool(s) for the specific message
- Recommend mechanisms to facilitate streamlined communication to students
Tools & Systems:
- Investigate the feasibility of current online systems in use at Carleton (MyCarleton, Carleton Central, WebCT) in meeting the student communication requirements of the Carleton administrative community
- Investigate the potential of other available online systems not currently in use at Carleton in meeting the student communication requirements of the Carleton administrative community
- Investigate the potential of alternative communication models (portals, mobile, social networks) in meeting the student communication requirements of the Carleton administrative community
- Recommend ways and means to improve and track both the “reception/open” rate of communication to receivers and the satisfaction of content/operating systems with receivers.
