This support includes tutorials, training, workshops as well as assistance with porting and optimizing existing code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Services offered include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide a<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">\u00a0single point of contact<\/strong>\u00a0for research-related requests to ITS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to cloud computing resources the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/rcs\/rcdc\/\"><strong>Research Computing and Development Cloud<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>RCDC<\/strong>)<\/a>. The RCDC can be used by researchers for their research computing needs as well as to develop new code and applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offer access to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/rcs\/sharefile\/\"><strong>RCS ShareFile<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0filesharing platform for research data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Custom, purpose-built research software created by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/rcs\/research-software-development\/\"><strong>RCS Research Software Development team<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to open and commercial software packages including: IBM SPSS Statistics, MathWorks\u2019 Matlab, Stata\/SE, NVivo, Qualtrics, etc (full list\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/its\/all-services\/computers\/site-licensed-software\/\">HERE<\/a>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support the joint\u00a0<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Data Science program<\/strong>. Participate in the design, measurement, collection, sampling and statistical analysis of research data and results.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offer tutoring, training, workshops and support scientific researchers, staff and students regarding HPC and<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">\u00a0Advanced Research Computing (ARC) resources<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist researchers with the\u00a0<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">porting,\u00a0optimization\u00a0and\u00a0running<\/strong>\u00a0of code or applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Consult<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">interact\u00a0<\/strong>with faculty and their research groups to enable them to fully utilize the ARC resources for their scientific research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help faculty with\u00a0<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">grant proposals<\/strong>\u00a0by contributing sections of the proposal that describe the interplay between their research and ARC resources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assess and develop\u00a0<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">research tools<\/strong>\u00a0including: collaborative data analysis, computational performance, data storage, and research collaboration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work strategically and collaboratively with all information technology areas involved in successful research support and with research and technology leaders at schools and departments throughout the University.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Research Computing Services\u00a0(RCS)\u2019s mission is to provide researchers with the support, expertise and resources necessary to conduct research computing at Carleton.
