Due to the unprecedented challenge posed by COVID-19, the Carleton University Senate, approved the use of Satisfactory (SAT) and Unsatisfactory (UNS) grades for the winter 2020 term. Students now have the choice, at their discretion, to convert any or all of their passing winter 2020 term grades to the alternative notation SAT.

If you wish to designate any winter 2020 term passing grade as SAT, you must do so no later than May 29, 2020. Once the change is made it cannot be reversed.

We strongly encourage students to wait until all of their winter term grades have been posted before making any decision to designate any passing winter 2020 term grades as SAT.

You can access the SAT Request form at https://stuapps.carleton.ca/sarms/registrar/sat.

Any failing grade (F for undergraduate students; C+ and below for graduate students) will automatically be converted to an UNS grade by the Registrar’s Office after May 29, 2020. The UNS grade will not be used in the calculation of your CGPA.

There are a number of FAQs about this process available via the Academic Advising Centre webiste. If you have any questions not covered in the SAT/UNS FAQ, undergraduate students should contact academicadvising@carleton.ca. Graduate students should contact graduate.studies@carleton.ca regarding graduate-level courses.
