- How do I register?
There are two steps to follow to successfully register for your course at Carleton.
- Complete the online application to become a Special Student at Carleton.
- Once you receive your student number via email, you will be directed to register via Carleton Central
- NOTE: some courses may require you to submit a Registration Override Request because of course restrictions or prerequisite requirements. The request is submitted via Carleton Central.
- NOTE: in order for your application to be processed, you must meet the proficiency requirements stated in Section 4.0 (option 1) of the Carleton University Undergraduate Calendar. Students who do not meet these requirements will not be permitted to register as part of the eCampusOntario program because English as a Second Language courses are only offered on campus.

- How do quizzes, assignments and exams work?

Some testing takes place online but many online courses have proctored seated exams. Local students write these on campus, while distance students can arrange to write these in their area with a qualified local proctor. Visit the Examination Services section of the CUOL website for more information. Most course work, such as a quiz or a written assignment, is submitted electronically by the deadline. If an assignment must be submitted physically it can be mailed to the department, postmarked by the deadline. See How CUOL Works for more information.
- How do I withdraw and what are the deadlines?

All courses changes are done through Carleton Central. The option to withdraw can be found under the Registration menu.
The Registrar’s Office maintains a list of important dates and deadlines that you should keep in mind when you are making changes to your registration.
- What rules and regulations apply to the course?

Students must apply for a Letter of Permission from Carleton and receive approval in advance before registering at another institution. Please review the guidelines and deadlines for Letter of Permission applications.

The application to register through eCampusOntario has 2 steps. Once you have completed the appropriate online form below, with the required information, you will be directed to a payment screen. There is a processing fee to become a Special Student at Carleton, this application processing fee is non-refundable. Please note that some courses may require you to meet pre-requisites to register.
