- Carleton Scholarships and Bursaries
Carleton Scholarships and Bursaries
On Carleton Central, when you Calculate Amount to Pay, the value of any scholarships and bursaries you have been awarded by Carleton will be recorded as available funding in the appropriate term(s) and will reduce the amount to you need to pay.
In order to receive your award(s) you must register (and remain registered) in a minimum of 4.0 credits for the fall/winter academic year. So be sure you register for both terms. After you have registered, your award(s) will be issued directly to your Carleton Student Account according to the following payment schedules: Entrance or In-Course Scholarship
Carleton Scholarships are issued to your student account in two equal installments, one for the Fall Term, one for the Winter Term. The fall instalment is paid to your student account in mid-August, and the winter instalment is paid to your student account in mid-December.
Carleton Entrance Bursary
If you were awarded a Carleton Entrance Bursary, it will be issued to your student account in a single instalment in mid-August. Information on scholarships and bursaries is available via the Awards website.
- Government Financial Aid
Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and other Provincial Student Aid Programs
If you are receiving funding from a Government Student Aid Program such as OSAP and intend to pay your fees with it, you will be able to pay your tuition fees after the payment due date if certain conditions are met by August 25, 2017.
Deferral Conditions for Ontario Students (OSAP):
If you are an Ontario resident who has applied for and been approved for OSAP funding, you will not need to formally request a fee payment deferral. One will be granted automatically if all four of the following conditions are met on or before the standard payment due date of August 25, 2017.
- You have provided all necessary supporting documentation to the Awards Office (and allowed sufficient time for processing)
- You have signed a Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) and submitted it to the National Student Loan Service Centre.
- Your OSAP processing status on Carleton Central is APPROVED
Your OSAP application at ontario.ca/osap shows you have been approved for funding and your funds are ready to be released.
To confirm that your OSAP funding is ready to be released, login to your OSAP account at ontario.ca/osap and review the Status Summary of your OSAP application.
If all four conditions are met on or before August 25, 2017, your tuition fee payment due date will be deferred until after the start of the term so that it aligns with the OSAP disbursement date. This will happen automatically. Deferral Dates for Ontario Students (OSAP):
- For the fall term, the deferral is valid until September 14, 2017, allowing time for your first OSAP instalment to be disbursed.
- For the winter term, the deferral is valid until January 12, 2018, allowing time for your second OSAP instalment to be disbursed.
Avoid late payment charges by applying for OSAP early! Visit the carleton.ca/osap to find out how to apply for OSAP grants and loans. Deferral Conditions for Out-of-Province Students:
If you are an out-of-province student who has been approved for government student aid through your home province or territory’s financial aid program, you must formally request a fee payment deferral. To do so, contact the Awards Office before the standard payment due date of August 25, 2017.

The Late Payment Charge also applies if a registration payment is returned to the University as non-negotiable and is not replaced before the last day for late registration. Winter term fees must be paid by the Winter Fee Deadline, November 25, 2017. Failure to do so will again result in a Late Payment Charge and interest. Late Payment Charges are non-refundable.
