- Calculate Amount to Pay
The Calculate Amount to Pay feature on Carleton Central, accessed from the “Registration” menu, helps you determine the amount you need to pay for each term after factoring in anticipated funding from Carleton University scholarships, bursaries, and the Ontario Student Assistance Program (if applicable).
- How Do I Pay?
No payments are accepted on campus. The University does not accept credit cards for student fees. You must use one of the approved methods below:
Electronic Banking Carleton University may be added to your bill payment profile using your bank’s online service. The bank will ask you for the name and account number of the bill you wish to pay. Use “Carleton University” as the name and your nine-digit student number (10XXXXXXX) as the account number. Note: If paying for more than one student, each student must be set up individually as payments will be applied to the student number specified in the bank transaction. Payments may be made by cheque, certified cheque, money order or bank draft and mailed to: Carleton University c/o T27547 P.O. Box 4275, Postal Station A Toronto, ON M5W 5V8 Ensure to include your name and student number on the front of the payment. Any payments sent by a courier that require a signature cannot be accepted. Post-dated cheques will not be held, but processed immediately and may result in a non-negotiable payment and applicable service charges. International Payments If you wish to pay from an international bank in non-Canadian funds only, you may select the International Payments link on the Student Account Summary page on Carleton Central. From there you will be taken to a third-party site which will facilitate the currency transfer to pay your student account.
- Carleton Scholarships and Bursaries
Carleton Scholarships and Bursaries
When you use the Calculate Amount to Pay feature on Carleton Central, the value of any bursary and/or scholarship Carleton University has awarded you will be recorded as available funding in the appropriate term(s) and will reduce the amount you need to pay.
Entrance Scholarships are issued directly to your student account in two equal instalments, one for the fall term, and one for the winter term. The fall instalment is applied to your student account in mid-August; the winter instalment in mid-December.
You must register and remain registered for the full academic year (in a minimum of 4.0 credits over the Fall/Winter Session) in order for the scholarship to be issued. So be sure you register for both terms.
Carleton Entrance Bursary
Entrance Bursaries are issued directly to your student account in mid-August provided you have registered for the full academic year (in a minimum of 4.0 credits over the Fall/Winter session).
- Government Financial Aid
Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and other Provincial Student Aid Programs
Government student aid programs (e.g. OSAP, Out-of-Province Loans) typically release funding to students the first week of September, after the standard fee payment deadline of August 25 has passed. If you have applied for government student aid, you may be eligible to extend your payment due date so that it aligns with when your government student aid funding is released. This is called a Payment Deferral.
Fall/Winter 2018-19 Payment Deferral Dates:
Fall term: September 12, 2018
Winter term: January 14, 2019
To be approved for the payment deferral, you must meet certain conditions.
Deferral Conditions for Students Receiving OSAP:
If you have applied for OSAP, you will automatically qualify for the payment deferral if on or before August 25, there are no processing holds on your OSAP account, and your funding is set to release at the start of September.
The Awards Office recommends applying for OSAP no later than July 1. If you are asked to provide supporting documents, they will be reviewed and approved faster if you submit them online.
To confirm that you have been approved for the payment deferral, visit your Calculate Amount to Pay page on Carleton Central. If approved, you will see a message about the deferral at the top of the page. For more information, see How to Check If You Have Been Approved for a Payment Deferral.
Deferral Conditions for Out-of-Province Students:
If you are a student from outside Ontario, and have applied for funding through your home province or territory’s government student aid program, you must formally request a fee payment deferral.
Submit your request to the Awards Office by email at email@example.com or call 613-520-2600 ext. 2882 (or ext. 8501).
Note: you may be required to provide proof of your funding entitlement.
- What If I Pay After The Deadline?
Late Payment Charge: If payment is not satisfied by the Fall Fee Deadline Date, August 25, 2018, a Late Payment Charge and interest will apply. Similarly, registering for courses after the first day of classes will result in a Late Payment Charge being assessed. The Late Payment Charge also applies if a registration payment is returned to the University as non-negotiable and is not replaced before the last day for late registration. Winter term fees must be paid by the Winter Fee Deadline, November 25, 2018. Failure to do so will again result in a Late Payment Charge and interest. Late Payment Charges are non-refundable.
