Each course you choose to take must be approved by the Registrar\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>View the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registrar\/letter-of-permission\/guide\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"956\">Letter of Permission Guide<\/a>\u201d for complete information on eligibility and deadlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"applying-for-a-letter-of-permission\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applying for a Letter of Permission<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/360.carleton.ca\/urd\/sits.urd\/run\/siw_lgn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Apply through&nbsp;Carleton Central via the Carleton 360 portal<\/a>&nbsp;by navigating to the \u201cStudent Services\u201d section, and then click on \u201cOnline Applications\u201d to access the form.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will need course descriptions for each course you wish to take. These descriptions should be copy\/pasted from the host university\u2019s website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The fees associated with a letter of permission are&nbsp;<strong>effective May 1, 2025&nbsp;<\/strong>and are&nbsp;<strong>$50.00&nbsp;<\/strong>per course, to a maximum of<strong>&nbsp;$250.00<\/strong>&nbsp;per application. These fees will be applied to your student account when you submit your online application. <a href=\"https:\/\/360.carleton.ca\/urd\/sits.urd\/run\/siw_lgn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Account information is available through&nbsp;Carleton Central<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"deadlines\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deadlines<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The application deadline to study on a Letter of Permission is 4 weeks prior to the start of classes of the host institution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We strive to process applications as quickly as possible however, please allow 4 weeks for processing in the event that a course equivalency must be assessed by the Academic Unit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"explore-program\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Explore Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Students participating in the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada Explore program may be able to earn credit toward their Carleton University degree upon successful completion of the Explore Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registrar\/letter-of-permission\/explore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Visit the Explore Program Guide<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Letter of Permission Carleton Degree or Certificate students may apply to study at any other accredited university on a Letter of Permission.
