Current projects include collaborations with small and large enterprises and government research scientists. The multidisciplinary team requires a full-time technologist to join our team. The role requires hands-on skills in electronic systems including design and implementation of prototype solutions using hardware\/software. Work will range from concept\/design to implementation, assembly, software development and verification. The candidate will be working with a team of senior Engineers, Engineering Professors, Research Assistants and external partners (Industry, Academia) and will be working with innovative sensor systems and their application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main duties and responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Take designs from a conceptual stage through to proof of concept, assembly, and prototype<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist in the development of prototypes using microcontrollers and sensor-based technologies including their computer interfaces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Evaluate new sensors and electronic systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform troubleshooting during the prototyping phase and report and resolve issues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create validation reports and conduct tests to ensure optimal system performance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work collaboratively with other team members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remain current of new technologies for microcontrollers and sensors and propose improvements in the design, performance, and reliability of the systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Opportunity:<\/strong>&nbsp;Hours will be negotiated but the candidate will work in the SAM<sup>3<\/sup>&nbsp;labs at Carleton and Bruy\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"job-requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Job Requirements:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Electronics Technician or Technologist diploma<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience working with electronic instruments\/equipment for industrial and\/or scientific applications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hands-on experience implementing electronic circuits and interfaces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with operating principles, design, and integration of sensors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with programming languages for microcontrollers and device drivers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Previous experience and\/or exposure to sensor-based technologies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Critical thinking skills and strong ability to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commitment to high quality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a multidisciplinary team<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attention to details and good organization skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with computer setup and maintenance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Positive and constructive attitude and good communication skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Self-motivation with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet tight deadlines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to communicate effectively in English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested Candidates should send their&nbsp;Cover letter,Resum\u00e9 and Transcript to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sam3\/people\/dr-bruce-wallace\/\">Dr. Bruce Wallace<\/a>&nbsp;by Oct 10, 2024<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Research Technologist \u2013 Full-time Contract Job Description: The SAM3&nbsp;Innovation Hub at Carleton University and the Bruy\u00e8re Hospital is engaged in advanced research on Supportive Smart Home systems to enable Aging in Place and Independence for older Canadians.
