Mihai Mateescu commenced his master’s research (co-supervised by Professor Liam O’Brien) in 2015 on the model predictive control of blinds for controlling passive solar gains. His work is experimentally exploring the control of internal reflective roller blinds that attempts to determine the optimal blind position to minimize energy use by predicting future performance using thermal simulations conducted with forecasted weather data.
This work is being conducted in the Urbandale Centre for Home Energy Research in collaboration with Altex Décoration Limitée.
