Though the department will always strive to keep this information updated, students should always verify their own program requirements through the&nbsp;<a class=\"urlextern\" title=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/grad\/\" href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/grad\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">graduate calendar<\/a>. As stated in the Graduate Calendar: \u201cAll interested students should consult their program graduate supervisor\/associate chair (graduate affairs), prior to registration, in order to obtain further information on particular departmental conditions of eligibility and procedures\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are also encouraged to review their Academic Audit. The audit provides you with a snapshot of your progress. Please refer to our <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sce\/current-graduate-students\/#courseplanning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">course planning guide<\/a> to learn more about taking non-departmental courses, courses marked &#8220;extra to degree&#8221; and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"meng-course-limit\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">MEng Course Limit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>MEng students in the Department of Systems and Computer engineering are limited to taking three courses (1.5 credits) per term. nine courses (<strong>excluding<\/strong>&nbsp;SYSC 5902) must be offered by the OCIECE&nbsp;<a title=\"http:\/\/www.ociece.ca\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ociece.ca\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"urlextern\">www.ociece.ca<\/a>&nbsp;(SYSC, ELEC or EACJ. excluding SYSC 5902),&nbsp;<strong><em class=\"u\">six<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;if not completing a project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sce\/current-graduate-students\/#non-dept-courses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">taking an outside course<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sce\/grad-regulations-resources\/#meng-course-regulations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">course overload for a single term<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/grad\/gradregulations\/administrationoftheregulations\/#13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">program extension (Graduate Calendar Regulation 13.5)<\/a>, or transition to <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/grad\/gradregulations\/administrationoftheregulations\/#7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">part time (Graduate Calendar Regulation 7.10)<\/a> may make a request to the department after reviewing the official policies and regulations relating to the area of request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After reviewing the official policies and regulations, students may initiate the request process by completing the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sce\/meng-academic-request-form\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MEng Academic Request Form<\/a> (Department of System and Computer Engineer students only).
