Our research is supported by a wide array of industrial leaders including <strong>Ciena<\/strong>, <strong>Cisco<\/strong>, <strong>Ericsson<\/strong>, <strong>IBM<\/strong>, <strong>Nokia<\/strong>, and <strong>Telus<\/strong>, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ericsson<\/strong> and <strong>Carleton University<\/strong> announced a partnership to expand experiential learning, work and research opportunities in 5G wireless communications, an area of critical importance for people, businesses and society at large. Prof. <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sce\/people\/lambadaris\/\">Ioannis Lambadaris<\/a> is the leading collaborator. You can apply for an Ericsson-Carleton 5G Fellowship from <a href=\"https:\/\/hubforgood.carleton.ca\/ericsson\/ericsson-fellows\/\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong> Government of Canada<\/strong> and <strong>Blackberry QNX<\/strong> investment of $40M on autonomous vehicles to support Carleton University\u2019s research leadership in autonomous systems and provide great opportunities for Carleton students. The announcement was made on Friday, February 15, 2019 in Kanata by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and focused on the next generation of connected and autonomous vehicles. Several members from the SCE department will be providing expertise to this project. More details are available <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/engineering-design\/2019\/carleton-welcomes-40-million-investment-in-blackberry-qnx\/\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.carleton.ca\/story\/autonomous-vehicles\/\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>TELUS<\/strong> and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (<strong>NSERC<\/strong>) as part of the Collaborative Research and Development (CRD) grants program provided funding for the <a href=\"https:\/\/ngn.sce.carleton.ca\/\">the Next Generation Networks group<\/a> of Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sce\/people\/matrawy\/\">Ashraf Matrawy<\/a> to start a new project on secure 5G slicing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carleton\u2019s collaboration with <strong>Cisco<\/strong> builds on a solid history and productive strategic partnership. In 2010, Carleton was the first institution in the world to use Cisco\u2019s smart converged building model for its Canal Building. Cisco and Carleton share a vision of enhancing collaboration and providing the most robust environment for research, teaching, and learning. Carleton and Cisco have co-established innovative spaces to foster entrepreneurial and inventive solutions that are directed at making a difference at the local, provincial, national and international levels (<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.carleton.ca\/story\/1125carleton\/\">1125@carleton<\/a>, a living laboratory; <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/discoverycentre\/\">Carleton\u2019s Discovery Center<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.carleton.ca\/programs\/network-technology-net\/\">Cisco Networking Academy<\/a>). In 2015 <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sce\/people\/ibnkahla\/\">Dr. Mohamed Ibnkahla<\/a> was appointed as\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.carleton.ca\/story\/cisco-chair-internet-of-things\/\">Cisco Chair in Sensor Technology for the Internet of Things<\/a>. This Chair builds on\u00a0Carleton\u2019s expertise in sensor and wireless systems, providing global leadership in connected sensors and environments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In addition, students have access to a number of industry-partnered labs, including: <b>Texas Instruments<\/b>, <strong>Nokia (Alcatel)<\/strong>, and <b>Mitel Networks<\/b>.<span style=\"color: #888888;\"><br><br><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These international companies recognize the world leading research and teaching being carried out&nbsp;in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering.
