Research Data Management – how do I engage in it?

Description (including learning skills/outcomes): The Tri-Agency (CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC) has composed a Statement of Principles on Digital Data Management.  It states that “high-quality data management is fundamental to research excellence”.  So it is important for researchers to understand what is meant by Research Data Management (RDM). This workshop will give you an overview of RDM and hands-on exercises that will demonstrate the benefits you will receive from practicing good RDM.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Define the key components of Research Data Management (RDM).
  2. Relate your research to a process known as a Research Data Management Plan (RDMP).
  3. Know how to create a Research Data Management Plan.
