Research Data Management – what is it and why does it matter to me?

March 20, 2019 at 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM

Location:252 MacOdrum Library
Cost:Free

This introductory session focuses on what it means to practice good research data management and how to communicate it effectively in Tri-Agency grant applications. The Tri-Agency (CIHR, NSERC and SSHRC) has composed a Statement of Principles on Digital Data Management, which states that “high-quality data management is fundamental to research excellence.” In this context, it’s important for researchers to understand what Research Data Management (RDM) means and why it matters.

Facilitator: Jane Fry, Data Services Librarian

Audience: Anyone interested in learning the basics of research data management, either for your own use or to understand one of the grant recommendations of the Tri-Agency.
