Sayed and Mostafa Taha &#8216;<em>Evaluation of Encrypted Matching Criteria using Homomorphic Encryption Based FSM<\/em>&#8216; is accepted for publication in the Journal of Cryptographic Engineering &#8211; Springer Nature<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-172\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sci-lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/system_overview-240x80.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1311\" height=\"437\" srcset=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sci-lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/system_overview-240x80.png 240w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sci-lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/system_overview-400x134.png 400w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sci-lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/system_overview-160x53.png 160w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sci-lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/system_overview-768x257.png 768w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sci-lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/system_overview-360x120.png 360w, https:\/\/carleton.ca\/sci-lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/system_overview.png 1026w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1311px) 100vw, 1311px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The paper carries the model of Oblivious Network Intrusion Detection System (O-NIDS) of our previous work to a new level, where it extends its capabilities to include matching against complex encrypted rules in the form of regular expressions. These regular expressions are implemented using encrypted finite state machines which, in turn, are built using the hybrid and fully homomorphic encryption gates.<\/p>\n<p>Similar to our previous work, this paper also introduces different models and implementations which adapts and fine tunes the performance and security levels to the requirements of the application.
