Lab Manager for the Carleton Ericsson 5G Wireless Lab
Background
*_In early 2020 Ericsson Canada and Carleton have established a research partnership for the advancement of 5G wireless communications. The partnership will enhance talent development programs by supporting research projects and establishing a state of the art 5G wireless lab in the newly built ARISE building at Carleton. We are currently seeking a talented individual to assume the position of lab manager in the Carleton ARISE wireless lab. More details about the Carleton/Ericsson research partnership can be found at:
Job Requirements
- Experience in configuring, deploying, and operating wireless, network and/or distributed devices/systems
- Experience with 5G cellular platforms and related technologies, SDN, and VNF (e.g., OpenAirInterface, LTE, ONF SD-RAN, etc)
- Knowledge of wireless systems, networked/distributed systems, virtualization, systems and network security
- Experiences in Linux systems administration, shell scripting, etc; Basic experience in Windows OS
- Capability of building systems prototypes or proof of concept devices based on reference publications and/or open-source code base
- Programming skills: Python, Web design, C and/or C++, Java , Matlab.
Job Description
The manager of the Carleton ARISE wireless should be responsible for deploying, configuring and maintaining the Ericsson 5G RAN equipment. Establishes and maintains configuration baseline for wireless and desktop set ups to include patches, operating systems, Commercial Off The Shelf
(COTS) components and in house applications on as needed basis. Actively participates in the organization and management of teaching and/or research projects, demos and events. Acts as contact person/ambassador to promote the lab, the Ericsson/Carleton partnership and related university activities to the community.
Candidate Profile
A bachelors degree in Electriical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
Basic networking certification. Excellent communication and social skills.
A masters degree and/or a doctorate in related engineering or computer science is highly encouraged.
