Please read this degree guide prior to registering.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"u-center-text\">\n\t<p>\n\t\t<a class=\"button__red button__red--outline\" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registration\/course-selection-guide\/bcs\/\" target=&quot;_blank&quot; rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">First Year Registration Guide \u2197<\/a>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<h3><a id=\"UG_audit\"><\/a>Academic Audit<\/h3>\n<p>The academic audit is the \u2018road map\u2019 to academic success. It lists which courses you are required to take in order to complete your degree at Carleton. The audit will inform you of the progress you have already made, as well as show you the courses that you will need to take in the future. Remember to check your audit regularly to ensure you are fulfilling your degree requirements.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"u-center-text\">\n\t<p>\n\t\t<a class=\"button__red button__red--outline\" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/academicadvising\/how-to-read-your-audit\/\" target=&quot;_blank&quot; rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Understanding your Academic Audit \u2197<\/a>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<h3><a id=\"Prerequisites\"><\/a>Prerequisites<\/h3>\n<p>Prerequisites are certain conditions that you must meet before you can register in a course. Prerequisites can also include your year-standing\/year status (first, second, third or fourth) or depend on enrolment in a certain program (degree, major etc).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The School of Computer Science strictly enforces calendar prerequisites<\/strong>. If you do not meet the prerequisite(s) of a COMP or CSEC course<em>, <\/em>you will be deregistered. More information on deregistration can be found in <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/regulations\/academicregulationsoftheuniversity\/registration-evaluation-records\/#deregistration\">Section 2.1.7 of the Undergraduate Calendar<\/a>. This also applies to DEF (deferred final exam); once the final grade for that course is posted, you will be deregistered from any current course if the prerequisite(s) is not met.\u00a0As deferred exams are always held after the registration period closes, if you are deregistered\u00a0you will not be able to add more courses to your class schedule. Please be aware that deregistration can happen at anytime during the term which may affect your status as a full-time student. Please see <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/academicadvising\/reduced-course-load\/\">this link<\/a>\u00a0to determine who you should speak with if your student status changes. Please note that students with a GNA (grade not available) in a course may also be affected by this policy.<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"UG_before_registration\"><\/a>Before you register<\/h3>\n<p>Course registration is done online through <a href=\"http:\/\/central.carleton.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carleton Central<\/a>. \u00a0It is your one-stop service for registration, student records, admission, and fee information.<\/p>\n<p>Refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Registrar\u2019s Office website<\/a> for how-to videos to assist you in navigating the Carleton Central registration system. You can view the registration open and deadline dates on the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registration\/dates\/\">Registration Dates and Deadlines webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"after_you_register\"><a id=\"UG_after_registration\"><\/a>After You Register<\/h3>\n<p>Pay your tuition by the payment deadline each term to avoid penalties or late fees. The Student Accounts office has information on how to <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/studentaccounts\/fee-payment\/\">make a payment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"UG_electives_and_prohibited\"><\/a>Electives and Prohibited Courses<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Electives<\/strong> are courses required for completion of your 20-credit degree program. Many first-year students find it difficult to choose electives. Our best advice is to choose a topic you enjoyed in high school or are generally interested in studying.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Find<\/strong> <strong>course titles and descriptions<\/strong>\u00a0in the <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/courses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">courses<\/a> section of the undergraduate calendar.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read the course descriptions to ensure you have the <strong>prerequisites<\/strong>, and then check the Public Class Schedule in Carleton Central to see when the course is offered.<\/li>\n<li>Be aware of\u00a0<strong>preclusions<\/strong> in the course descriptions. If a course precludes additional credit for another course, that means you cannot get credit for both of those courses. Please note that <em>preclusion does not mean equivalent<\/em>, though in some cases it may be. Please contact your undergraduate advisor for further clarification.<\/li>\n<li>If you encounter a <strong>restriction<\/strong> when trying to register, please submit a Registration Override Request on Carleton Central, and the department owning the course will get back to you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Breadth Electives<\/h3>\n<p>Breadth Electives are all of the courses offered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs, the Sprott School of Business, and the Faculty of Science. This <em><strong>excludes<\/strong><\/em><strong> prohibited courses<\/strong> (see below) <strong>and all courses in<\/strong> <strong>Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Math and Statistics, and courses under the Faculty of Engineering and Design<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Once you\u2019ve completed your breadth electives, any courses you take that would have been considered breadth are used as free electives (see below).<\/li>\n<li>Here is a small sample of courses you might choose: PSYC 1001, BUSI 1003, BIOL 1103, BIOL 1902, ERTH 1006, HIST 1001, FILM 1101, JAPA 1010, FOOD 1001, RELI 1710, MUSI 1002, CHEM 1001. Please note that courses may not be offered every term or every year.<\/li>\n<li>If you take a minor in another discipline (except Math\/Stats), most likely all the courses in the minor would count towards this category of electives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Free Electives<\/h3>\n<p>Free Electives are all courses in Approved Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Business, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Math and Statistics, <strong><em>excluding<\/em> all prohibited courses<\/strong> (see below). Engineering courses can also count as Free Electives, but never Breadth. We encourage students to take electives each term.<\/p>\n<h3>Prohibited Courses<\/h3>\n<p>Prohibited courses\u00a0<strong>cannot be used for credit<\/strong> towards any program requirement (i.e. electives, minors, etc) for students enrolled in Computer Science or any Combined Computer Science program or Minor in Computer Science. <em>Please always refer to the most recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/undergradprograms\/computerscience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Undergraduate Calendar<\/a>\u00a0for the\u00a0<strong>most up-to-date list of prohibited courses,<\/strong>\u00a0and for all prerequisites and preclusions.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><strong>IMPORTANT: Maximum Number of Credits Below the 2000-level.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>A student may count a <strong>maximum of 7.0 credits<\/strong> below the 2000-level toward fulfillment of graduation requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Credits in excess of this limit will be set aside as Extra to the Degree (ETD), No Credit for the Degree (NCD), or Forfeit. This allows students to increase their CGPA by pushing out low grades below the 2000-level through replacement by higher grades at the same level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2><a id=\"UG_thesis_project\"><\/a>Honours Thesis\/Project and Directed Studies<\/h2>\n<p>As of the Fall 2022 term, the <strong>Honours Project <\/strong>(COMP 4905) and <strong>Honours Thesis<\/strong> (COMP 4906) courses are optional. They do not need to be taken in order to complete your BCS Honours degree. You may optionally take a 4th year course instead of COMP 4905 or two 4th year courses instead of COMP 4906. Please contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/scs\/our-people\/school-of-computer-science-administration\/#ug-advisors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Undergraduate Advisors<\/a> with any questions.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A typical project\/thesis will require around 100 hours of work per term. There are no classes. Rather, you will work on this project on your own (usually at home or in a lab at the University). Although you work on this project on your own, you will choose a supervisor who will oversee your work, provide guidance along the way and then grade your project\/thesis when it is completed. It is strongly suggested that you begin your search for a supervisor the term prior to taking the project or thesis. Registration for either of these courses requires departmental approval. You will typically register for an <strong>Honours Thesis<\/strong> in the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fall<\/span> term, whereas an <strong>Honours Project<\/strong> or <strong>Directed Study<\/strong> can be done during <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">any<\/span> term, including summer. A <i>prerequisite <\/i>is a course that must be successfully completed (with a minimum grade\u00a0of <b>D- <\/b> or above unless otherwise noted) BEFORE you are able to register into the course. By first taking all of the required prerequisite course(s), this will ensure that your knowledge level is adequate for you to understand the material in the course that you are trying to register into. Always look at the most current <a href=\"http:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Undergraduate Calendar<\/a> in order to determine which prerequisites are required for the course that you are trying to take. Some COMP courses will require a prerequisite grade that is higher than D-. The School of Computer Science strictly enforces prerequisites as outlined in the calendar.<\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-is-a-preclusion\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-is-a-preclusion\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What is a preclusion?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-is-a-preclusion\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p>When two courses have very similar (or overlapping) material, the calendar often indicates that the courses will <i>preclude <\/i>one another. This means that you cannot have both of these courses count as credit towards your degree requirements. Precluded courses are not necessarily equivalent. Do not assume that one course can substitute for another simply because it precludes the other course. You should always check with your Undergraduate Advisors to be sure. Note that if you take a course that precludes another course that you have already taken, the most recent grade will count. Preclusions are listed in the course description in the <a href=\"http:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Undergraduate Calendar<\/a>.<\/p><\/dd><dl><\/div>\n<div class=\"slideme\"><dl class=\"slideme__list\"><dt class=\"slideme__term\"><a href=\"#slideme-what-if-a-required-course-is-not-offered\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"slideme-what-if-a-required-course-is-not-offered\" class=\"slideme__heading slideme__trigger\">What if a required course is not offered?<\/a><\/dt><dd class=\"slideme__description\" id=\"slideme-what-if-a-required-course-is-not-offered\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><p>Below is a list of courses that are required for some BCS programs but are no longer offered. Each item also indicates what the School will accept as a replacement in the affected programs. Always follow your program under the <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Undergraduate Calendar<\/a> that corresponds to the &#8220;catalog year&#8221; on your academic audit. This email is intended to summarize the <u>main<\/u> changes, inform you of how your program may be impacted (if applicable), and remind you of other important academic related rules and issues. <strong>Please consult the 2025-26 Undergraduate Calendar for <em>all<\/em> changes, including changes to course descriptions, and preclusion and prerequisite statements.<\/strong> Please note that the School of Computer Science enforces all calendar prerequisites and reserves the right to have students de-registered from courses due to lack of prerequisites, after sufficient notice to the student asking them to withdraw.<\/p>\n<p>Though this email may seem lengthy, it contains important information. If at any time you need advising, please contact your <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/scs\/our-people\/school-of-computer-science-administration\/administrative-staff\/undergraduate-advisor\/\">Undergraduate Advisors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Although the goal of this email is to make you aware of the main calendar changes and to inform you of other matters, please note that it is still the student\u2019s responsibility to be aware of all University rules and regulations as well as those pertaining to their program, as per the Undergraduate Calendar: <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/regulations\/academicregulationsoftheuniversity\/student-responsibility\/\">1.1 Student Responsibility<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>IMPORTANT INFO AND REMINDERS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>***Fall 2025\/Winter 2026 registration for returning students begins on July 8 (check your time-ticket on Carleton Central). One week prior to your time-ticket opening, please check your draft schedule(s) or your registration course planning tool to make sure nothing has changed and that there are no new conflicts with your course selections. Day\/time, room and instructor changes are rare, but still possible. Please also read the \u201csection information\u201d under each course on the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/central.carleton.ca\/prod\/bwysched.p_select_term?wsea_code=EXT\"><strong>Public Class Schedule<\/strong><\/a> <strong>for important information. Course conflicts are prohibited as per University regulations, unless otherwise noted on the Public Class Schedule. <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Always be aware of important dates and deadlines, including financial and academic withdrawal dates: <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/academicyear\/\">The Academic Year (Graduate and Undergraduate Studies) &lt; Carleton University<\/a>. Please note that as of Fall 2022, the academic withdrawal date is no longer the last day of the term, and there are also early and late term courses in all terms.<\/li>\n<li>For COMP courses taken on campus, please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/scs\/scs-laptop-requirement\/\">SCS Laptop Requirement<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Audit, Program and Calendar Year:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Run and monitor your <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registrar\/progress\/academic-audit\/\">academic audit<\/a> on Carleton Central regularly, especially after any registration activity, to make sure it\u2019s correct and there are no \u201ccourses set aside\u201d that should not be. If you are uncertain of something, see any discrepancies or have questions, please contact your <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/scs\/our-people\/school-of-computer-science-administration\/administrative-staff\/undergraduate-advisor\/\">Undergraduate Advisors<\/a>. *Please read the \u201cImportant Notice\u201d paragraph at the very bottom of your audit.<\/li>\n<li>Your audit shows the \u201cCatalog Year\u201d your program is under (e.g. 202430 = 2024\/2025 academic year). Refer to the appropriate calendar for your program under <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/archives\/\">Calendar Archives<\/a>. Your audit should reflect what is in the calendar, unless there have been curriculum changes since. Every year, the School informs all students by email of any relevant changes to the BCS programs and what to watch for on their audit.<\/li>\n<li>For prerequisites and preclusions, regardless of your Catalog Year, always refer to <u>the most recent<\/u> Undergraduate Calendar.<\/li>\n<li>Students whose program is under an older Catalog Year and who change their program elements (i.e. add\/drop a stream, move from Major to Honours or vice versa), will have their new program under the most recent Catalog Year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Electives, Prohibited Courses, 1000-level Courses, Prerequisites and Preclusions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be aware of the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/scs\/current-students\/undergraduate-students\/courses-and-registration\/#UG_electives_and_prohibited\">electives and prohibited courses<\/a> for the BCS program. Also refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/undergradprograms\/computerscience\/\">Computer Science<\/a> program section of the Undergraduate Calendar for elective definitions, and for the most up-to-date list of prohibited courses. <strong><u>NOTE<\/u>:<\/strong> As of Fall 2023, <strong>BUSI 1401 and BUSI 2401<\/strong> are prohibited and cannot be used for credit in the BCS or any combined Computer Science program.<em> Please see below for information regarding BUSI 1401 for students who currently have or would like to add a Minor in Business.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>The maximum number of credits at the zero and 1000-level that can be used for your entire program is 7.0 credits, as outlined in the calendar section <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/regulations\/academicregulationsoftheuniversity\/registration-evaluation-records\/#max-credits-below-the-2000-level\">2.2.1 Maximum Credits Below the 2000 Level<\/a>. This information also appears on the academic audit, under \u201csummary of program requirements\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>For prerequisites and preclusions, as stated above, always refer to <u>the most recent<\/u> Undergraduate Calendar.<\/li>\n<li>The School enforces all calendar prerequisites. Any exceptions for 2025-26 are noted on the <a href=\"https:\/\/central.carleton.ca\/prod\/bwysched.p_select_term?wsea_code=EXT\">Public Class Schedule<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The School, after notifying students, will de-register any students who fail to meet the prerequisites of a course, including minimum grade requirements as per the Undergraduate Calendar.<\/li>\n<li>When a course \u201cprecludes additional credit\u201d for another course, this means you cannot get credit for both courses. It does <u>not<\/u> mean that the two courses are equivalent, though in some cases they may be. If two courses that preclude each other are taken, only the most recent attempt can count towards your program and for credit; the other course will be forfeited on your audit under \u201ccourses set aside\u201d. Please refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/regulations\/academicregulationsoftheuniversity\/registration-evaluation-records\/#closely-related-courses\">2.1.9 Credit for Closely-related Courses<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>When a course is repeated, the best grade is used for CGPA calculations and towards the program requirements. The Best Grade rule applies to direct repeated courses and cross-listed courses but not precluded courses. For more details please see <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/academicadvising\/faqs-about-repeating-courses\/\">FAQ: Repeating Courses &#8211; Academic Advising (carleton.ca)<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Additional Notes on Electives and Special Topics Courses: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Special Topics courses are offered each term under COMP 4900, with different section letters. Students may take multiple Special Topics courses over the years, as long as they do not take the same topic\/subject more than once. IMPORTANT: The system will not stop you from registering in the same COMP 4900 course again, so please monitor this on your own. If you are unable to register for a COMP 4900 course, please submit a registration override request on Carleton Central.\u00a0 All details of each COMP 4900 course, including prerequisites, are always listed on the Public Class Schedule.<\/li>\n<li>Late addition of a Special Topics courses for Winter 2026: <strong>COMP 4900 A: Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLMs). <\/strong>Please see the Public Class Schedule for details.<\/li>\n<li>Physics is offering a quantum course in Fall 2025 for those interested in this as an elective:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><b>PHYS 3705 Intro to Quantum Systems <\/b><br \/>\nThis course is aimed at Computer Science and other students interested in developing a foundational understanding of quantum systems. Topics include: postulates of quantum mechanics, Hilbert space and observables, qubits, 2 state systems, entanglement, Schrodinger equation, 1D potentials, tunnelling, EPR paradox.<br \/>\nPrecludes additional credit for PHYS 3701.<br \/>\nrequisite(s): (MATH 1004 or MATH 1007) and (MATH 1104 or MATH 1107).<\/p>\n<p><strong>For all BCS Honours programs:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As of Fall 2022, COMP 4905 [0.5] Honours Project and COMP 4906 [1.0] Honours Thesis are <strong>optional<\/strong> in all BCS Honours programs. In place of COMP 4905 or COMP 4906, you may take any other COMP at the 4000-level course(s) to fulfill the degree requirement as shown in Part C of your <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/academicadvising\/your-academic-audit\/\">academic audit<\/a>. Please see <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/scs\/current-students\/undergraduate-students\/honours-project-and-directed-studies\/\">https:\/\/carleton.ca\/scs\/current-students\/undergraduate-students\/honours-project-and-directed-studies\/<\/a> for more details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>BUSI 1401 &#8211; For BCS Honours students who have a Minor in Business or plan to add the Minor in Business in the future:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BUSI 2400 was replaced by BUSI 1401 in the Minor in Business. If students took BUSI 1401 <em>prior to Fall 2023<\/em>, the course is usable as credit towards the Minor in Business and also toward the BCS electives (if any remain to be taken). <em>As of Fall 2023, BUSI 1401 is a prohibited course for all BCS and combined Computer Science programs and students will <u>not<\/u> be able to use it as credit towards a Minor in Business or as a BCS elective.<\/em> However, the Sprott School of Business has agreed to allow BCS students to use COMP 1005\/1405 instead of BUSI 1401 in the Minor in Business. Sprott will have the affected audits amended to reflect this change. <u>Please do not register in BUSI 1401\u2014it will not be usable as credit under any circumstances<\/u>.\u00a0If you need advising on the Minor in Business, please contact <a href=\"ma&#105;&#108;&#116;&#111;&#x3a;&#x62;&#x63;&#x6f;&#x6d;&#64;s&#112;&#114;&#111;&#116;&#x74;&#x2e;&#x63;&#x61;&#x72;le&#116;&#111;&#110;&#46;&#x63;&#x61;\">&#x62;&#x63;&#111;m&#x40;&#x73;&#112;ro&#x74;&#x74;&#46;c&#x61;&#x72;&#108;&#101;t&#x6f;&#x6e;&#46;c&#x61;<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>The following is a summary of the calendar changes you need to be aware of, <u>effective Fall 2025<\/u>. For course descriptions, prerequisites and preclusions, please refer to the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/\"><strong>2025-26 Undergraduate Calendar<\/strong><\/a><strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>See the \u201csection information\u201d notes under each course on the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/central.carleton.ca\/prod\/bwysched.p_select_term?wsea_code=EXT\"><strong>Public Class Schedule<\/strong><\/a><strong> for additional information including registration priority and course delivery (where applicable), and the prerequisites for the COMP 4900 Special Topics courses. NOTE: Course conflicts are prohibited unless otherwise noted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>NEW and REVISED BCS PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Changes to COMP Courses<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>COMP 2108<\/strong> \u2013 CSEC 2108 was added to the preclusion statement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMP 2401<\/strong> \u2013 SYSC 1006 was added to the preclusion statement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMP 2501<\/strong> \u2013 COMP 1501 was removed as a prerequisite.<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMP 3007<\/strong> \u2013 <u>NEW Prerequisites<\/u>: COMP 1805 with a minimum grade of C-, COMP\u00a02401 with a minimum grade of C-, COMP 2402, (COMP 2404 or SYSC 3010 or SYSC 3110) and (COMP 2406 or SYSC 4504).<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMP 3106<\/strong> \u2013 SYSC 4416 was added to the preclusion statement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMP 3203<\/strong> \u2013 SYSC 3512 and SYSC 4602 were added to the preclusion statement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMP 3804<\/strong> \u2013 Prerequisite statement now matched that of the cross-listed MATH 3804.<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMP 4108<\/strong> \u2013 CSEC 3108 was added to the preclusion statement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMP 4116<\/strong> \u2013 New course code for Multiagent Systems. This course was previously offered under COMP 4900 Special Topics. <em>Students who took this course under COMP 4900 cannot take COMP 4116 for credit.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>COMP 4905<\/strong> \u2013 Honours Project. BCS Honours students must have fourth-year standing.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Courses no longer equivalent<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>SYSC 2004<\/strong> \u2013 As of Fall 2025, this course is no longer equivalent to COMP 1006\/1406. Students who transferred from B.Eng to BCS may only receive credit for COMP 1006\/1406 if they took SYSC 2004 prior to Fall 2025.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Computer Game Development stream<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>COMP 1501 and COMP 2501 are no longer mandatory, but optional from a list of courses. This only pertains to students whose program is under to 2025-26 calendar. Otherwise, please follow your audit and the calendar of the year your program is under.
