Dijkstra Prize in Distributed Computing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prize is given for outstanding papers on the principles of distributed computing, whose significance and impact on the theory and\/or practice of distributed computing have been evident for at least a decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The committee bestowed this prestigious award to Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/scs\/people\/nicola-santoro\/\"><em>Nicola Santoro<\/em><\/a><em>&nbsp;<\/em><em>and Dr. Peter Widmayer<\/em> for their paper:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/10.5555\/646505.694026\">Time is Not a Healer<\/a>\u201c<br>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/proceedings\/10.5555\/646505\">Proceedings of the 6th Annual Symposium on<br>\nTheoretical Aspects of Computer Science<\/a>,<br>\npages 304\u2013313, 1989.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awarding committee noted that &#8220;the seminal paper by Santoro and Widmayer combines original conceptual contributions with deep theoretical insights and stands out as a significant stepping stone in our theoretical understanding of distributed computing.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Full announcement: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.podc.org\/2024-edsger-w-dijkstra-prize-in-distributed-computing\/\">2024 Edsger W.
