This article covers the steps for importing a Virtual Machine into VirtualBox. If you have not yet installed VirtualBox, you can do so using the Install VirtualBox Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To import<\/strong> one of the SCS Virtual Machines as a guest<\/strong> into VirtualBox, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Download the Virtual Machine for your course from our Course Virtual Machines<\/a> page.
    \nThis will download the .ova<\/strong> file, which – if you are curious – is a compressed tarball of the Virtual Machine exported from VirtualBox<\/em><\/li>\n
  2. In VirtualBox, go to File<\/em> menu and click Import Appliance<\/em> (or press CTRL-I<\/strong>)<\/li>\n
  3. In the Appliance Import Window<\/em> that opens, click the folder icon to browse for the .ova<\/strong> file you just downloaded, then click Next<\/em><\/li>\n
  4. Do NOT<\/strong> change any of the Appliance Settings-<\/strong>\u00a0these have already been optimized for most systems<\/li>\n
  5. Click Import<\/em><\/li>\n
  6. NOTE: <\/strong>Importing an Appliance can take 2-10 minutes depending on the speed of your computer and the size of the Virtual Machine<\/li>\n
  7. When the import is complete, you will see the new Virtual Machine guest<\/strong> in VirtualBox’s guest list.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
