Dr. Carruthers, B.Sc., M.D., M.B.A., I.C.D., is a consultant in health care and a corporate director. He is a retired orthopedic surgeon and previous Chief of Staff at The Ottawa Hospital. Dr. Carruthers is a graduate of Carleton University (BSc.), the University of Ottawa (MD), and Concordia University’s Executive MBA program. He has a strong interest in boards and he sits on the Ottawa Airport Authority board and is Chair of the Mach-Gaensslen Foundation. His previous board appointments include Canadian Blood Services, Accreditation Canada, The Ottawa Hospital, The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, the Ontario Hospital Association and Ashbury College. He is a past Chair of the Ashbury College Board and its Foundation. Dr. Carruthers became Chair of the Carleton Board on July 1, 2016 and will serve until June 30, 2018, at which time he will become Past Chair until June 20, 2020. He is the Board’s representative on Carleton’s Senate.
