Patrice Smith

Patrice Smith is Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs and a full Professor in the Department of Neuroscience. Previous to this appointment, she served as Associate Dean (Academic Affairs) in the Faculty of Science at Carleton University.
Her research specializes in understanding how the brain responds to injury and mechanisms to promote repair and recovery. She is an internationally recognized neuroscientist, who has authored several fundamental research articles in her area of specialization.
Dr. Smith was elected by the Senate to the Board of Governors for a three-year term commencing July 1, 2018 and ending June 30, 2021 and has renewed for an additional three-year term, ending June 30, 2024.
