Janakan Muthukumar

Graduate Student

Janakan is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Law and Faculty of Public Affairs at Carleton, a Senior Research Fellow at the NATO Association of Canada, and the Research Director of the NATO Research Group based at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Affairs at Trinity College at the University of Toronto.

His experience in representing diverse communities has given him the opportunity to work alongside policymakers, government and non-government officials, administrative, and expert groups.

As an advocate for equity and equality, Janakan prioritizes inclusiveness and celebrates diversity. His fellowships in national and global platforms, and a world-class education have equipped him with a robust understanding on the impact of policies, and policy implementations. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Janakan is also a former Chevening Scholar (2017), Asia Pacific Scholar of the European Union (2015) and a Legislative Fellow at the United States Department of State (2014).

Janakan has been elected to the Board of Governors for a one-year term commencing July 1, 2023, and ending on June 30, 2024.
