Beadles are needed to assist with Carleton’s June 2019 Convocation. Beadles are highly valued volunteers that play a vital role in ensuring that Convocation runs smoothly.
Role of Beadles
Beadles manage the procession of the graduating class. They assist students in getting to their seats, direct graduates to the stage to receive their diplomas, and help them exit at the end of the program. Beadles also help students who arrive late and assist students with mobility limitations. The role is open to both faculty and staff.
For beadling, the morning commitment is from 8:30 am to 11:45 am, and the afternoon commitment is from 1:00 pm to 4:15 pm. A complimentary lunch will be provided to all Beadles volunteering for one or both ceremonies.
We are still looking for 9 volunteers to assist with the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon ceremonies.
If you are interested in becoming a Beadle, please register by completing the online form. Please note that there will be a mandatory Beadle training session on the morning of June 10 in the Fieldhouse (exact time tbd).
