The Carleton University Senate is calling for nominations for graduate students to serve on a variety of Senate Standing Committees.  The term of office is one year (to June 30, 2020) and will begin as soon as the positions are filled after the closing date in October 2019. Deadline for nominations is October 4.

Eligibility

Students may serve on Senate committees without having been previously elected to a governance position.  To be eligible, all students must be in good academic standing, and must be currently enrolled in a graduate program.

The following is a summary of all positions available as of September 1, 2019. Click on the title of each committee to learn more about its mandate, terms of reference, and composition.

How to Apply

To submit a self-nomination for one or more of these positions, please send a statement of candidacy to Kathy McKinley, Assistant University Secretary (kathy.mckinley@carleton.ca) on or before October 4, 2019.  Include in your statement:

  • Your name and student ID number
  • Your department and faculty
  • The committee position(s) you would like to apply for
  • An account of why you are interested in the position(s) and
  • A summary of any governance and committee experience you already have.

An election will be scheduled for any contested positions.
