The goal of Inclusion Week is to raise visibility and awareness of the value of human rights work and EDI. This year\u2019s theme is <em>Doing the Work: reflecting, relinquishing, and reclaiming power in inclusion. <\/em>View the full calendar of events and <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/equity\/events\/inclusion-week\/\">register for the event here<\/a>&nbsp;<strong>(registration is required)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of <strong>Inclusion Week<\/strong>, join us to watch a few episodes from the first season of the Netflix program <em>Special, <\/em>followed by open discussions about identifying as disabled and queer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event will be facilitated by our guest panelists:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"andrew-gurza\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Andrew Gurza<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Andrew is an award winning Disability Awareness Consultant and the Chief Disability Officer and Co-founder of Bump&#8217;n, a sex toy company for and by disabled people. Their work has been featured on BBC, CBC, Daily Xtra, Gay times UK, Huffington Post, and several anthologies. Andrew has guested on a number of podcasts including Dan Savage\u2019s Savage Love and Cameron Esposito\u2019s Queery, and has spoken all over the world on sex, disability and what it means to be a Queer Cripple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"brett-babcock\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brett Babcock<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Brett was a trampolinist, travelling the world and winning medals; however, as he prepared for a competition in Sydney, Australia, Brett&#8217;s life changed forever in an instant when he landed on his neck, dislocating his C5 and C6 vertebrae. Today, Brett continues to inspire through his perseverance and newfound passion as a quadriplegic marathon racer. Brett will be joining us to discuss his journey as a queer disabled man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"arleth-ruiz\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arleth Ruiz<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Arleth is a third-year Bachelor&#8217;s student at Carleton; majoring in Sociology, and minoring in Economics. After a life-changing diagnosis of schizophrenia in 2020, after a ten-year career in marketing, she made the decision to pivot her life pursuits to that of making the world a better place and chose to return to school.
