{"id":4270,"date":"2019-08-07T09:39:17","date_gmt":"2019-08-07T13:39:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ses\/?page_id=4270"},"modified":"2024-07-08T09:43:07","modified_gmt":"2024-07-08T13:43:07","slug":"exam-overload","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ses\/examination-services\/exam-overload\/","title":{"rendered":"Exam Overload and Conflicts"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Exam Overload<\/h2>\n<p>An\u00a0<strong>overload<\/strong>\u00a0is defined as:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>3 or more examinations scheduled in 3 consecutive periods<\/li>\n<li>4 or more examinations scheduled in 5 consecutive periods<\/li>\n<li>5 or more examinations scheduled in 7 consecutive periods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A\u00a0<strong>period<\/strong>\u00a0refers to the morning, afternoon or evening time slot on an exam day.<\/p>\n<p>For example, \u201cthree exams in three consecutive periods\u201d would be exams scheduled in:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"list-style-type: upper-alpha;\">\n<li>The morning (09:00), afternoon (14:00) and evening (19:00) of the same day<\/li>\n<li>The afternoon (14:00) and evening (19:00) of one day and the morning (09:00) of the next day<\/li>\n<li>The evening (19:00) of one day and the morning (09:00) and afternoon (14:00) of the next day.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Students with an examination overload should report it immediately to Examination Services in 508 University Centre, by phone 613-520-4454, or <a href=\"&#109;&#x61;&#105;&#x6c;&#116;&#x6f;&#58;&#x65;x&#x61;m&#x69;n&#x61;t&#105;&#x6f;&#110;&#x73;&#64;&#x63;&#97;&#x72;&#108;&#x65;t&#x6f;n&#x2e;c&#x61;\">email us<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>PMC Students<\/h3>\n<p>Students registered with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/pmc\/\">Paul Menton Centre<\/a>\u00a0who have concerns about their exam schedule should speak to their co-ordinator.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Exam Conflicts<\/h2>\n<p>A\u00a0conflict is defined as two or more exams scheduled at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Students with an examination conflict should report immediately to Examination Services in 508 University Centre, by phone 613-520-4454, or <a href=\"&#x6d;&#x61;&#x69;&#x6c;&#x74;&#x6f;&#x3a;&#x65;&#x78;&#x61;&#x6d;&#x69;&#x6e;&#x61;&#x74;&#x69;&#x6f;&#x6e;&#x73;&#x40;&#x63;&#x61;&#x72;&#x6c;&#x65;&#x74;&#x6f;&#x6e;&#x2e;&#x63;&#x61;\">email us<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>University of Ottawa Exam Conflicts<\/h3>\n<p>Carleton and University of Ottawa Exchange Program students who have conflicts between Carleton and University of Ottawa exams should proceed as follows: Carleton students should contact Examination Services at Carleton.
