Welcome to Distance Exam Service! This service supports students who are unable to write their exams on campus. This may include students in online courses who are required to complete an in-person exam, varsity athletes travelling for competitions, or students facing other approved circumstances. To be eligible, students must be located at least 160 km away from Carleton University on the exam date. The course must also allow the exam to be written off campus. Before applying, students must review the Distance Exam Service Eligibility page to confirm that they meet all requirements.<\/u><\/p>\n

In most cases, in-person exams are arranged at a nearby college, university, or approved testing centre. The testing centre provides the space and proctoring required for the exam. Students may also be required to pay a separate proctoring fee directly to the testing centre. Please review our Distance Exam Service fees before applying.<\/u><\/p>\n

In some cases, an online exam using CoMaS may be approved instead. CoMaS is Carleton\u2019s e-Proctoring system and is used to support a secure and fair exam process.<\/p>\n

We also work with Athletics<\/a> to support varsity athletes whose travel schedules affect their ability to write on campus, while ensuring that all exam requirements are followed.<\/p>\n

Before applying, students must review their course outline to confirm that distance exam arrangements are aligns with their course.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/h3>\n

Applications must be submitted by May 13,\u00a0<\/strong> for 2026 Full and Early Summer Term courses and July 9th <\/strong>for 2026 Late Summer Term Courses. Late applications may still be reviewed, but they could be declined. If accepted, a $25 late fee will apply. For more details, please check the service and cancellation fee information.<\/p>\n
