Dr. Cynthia Cruickshank joined the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering as an Assistant Professor in July 2009. She received her Ph.D. (2009) and B.A.Sc. (2003) degrees at Queen\u2019s University. Her primary research interests involve the design and optimization of solar thermal energy systems and sensible heat storages. The scope of this work also includes investigations related to advanced buildings, including energy efficient and sustainable energy concepts for commercial and residential applications.
The SESL has helped Dr. Cruickshank in developing collaborative relationships with researchers at other Canadian universities, particularly those engaged in the NSERC Solar Buildings Research Network. As a researcher and participant in the NSERC Smart Net-Zero Energy Buildings Strategic Research Network (SneBRN), Dr. Cruickshank is exploring new collaborative arrangements and supporting graduate students. Since 2010, Dr. Cruickshank has also been an active member of the Canadian Home Builders Association Technical Research Committee, as the SneBRN representative.<\/p>\n
