We conduct research to ensure new knowledge is integrated in offending risk assessment and that relevant findings are translated to users, through updated training materials or through establishment of projects to address an issue.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Dr. Babchishin is authored of three risk tools used to predict reoffending among men with sexual offences (Static-99R, Static-2002R, and BARR-2002R) and is a committee member of SAARNA, a not for profit organization that now oversee these three risk tools, in addition to the STABLE-2007 and ACUTE-2007.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Current Focus<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

We have just received a 5-year Insight Grant (SSHRC) to explore racial\/ethnic bias in risk assessment, expert recommendations, and release decisions for men with sexual offence histories that are at a high risk to reoffend. We are currently launching the coding of files for this project.<\/p>\r\n

Through a MITACS Accelerate grant, we have partnered with Ontario’s College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) to complete a research project where we identify ecological features (e.g., visibility within the classroom, supervision) that influence the risk of misconducts my early childhood educators.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
