Research-assistant volunteers<\/h3>\n
\n

Volunteer tasks can include interview transcription, literature reviews, document formatting, research programming, and other project support. Carleton students are given preference, although applicants outside Carleton may be considered.<\/p>\n

Important:<\/strong> Because of the number of inquiries received, please complete the survey rather than emailing Dr. Babchishin. Students typically begin as unpaid research assistants.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Undergraduate thesis students<\/h3>\n
\n

The lab does not currently plan to accept undergraduate thesis students for 2027\u20132028 because Dr. Babchishin will be on sabbatical.<\/p>\n

MA students<\/h3>\n
\n

The lab expects to accept at least one MA student for Fall 2027. Applicants should review Carleton\u2019s program requirements and deadlines. Applicants who identify Dr. Babchishin as their primary supervisor of interest are typically contacted for interviews in late January 2027.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

PhD students<\/h3>\n

The lab expects to accept at least one PhD student for Fall 2027. Before November 15, 2026, prospective applicants should email Dr. Babchishin using the subject line \u201cProspective PhD student\u201d and include a CV, latest transcript, most recent publication, and a brief description of their proposed research interests.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Carleton students interested in completing an independent research project for credit should contact Dr. Babchishin at least one semester before the intended registration term. Please include a CV, transcript, and a short description of the proposed area of research.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
