We were pleased to host Christian Kamps<\/a>, a Department of Electronics<\/a> alumnus and FPGA Designer at Fidus Microsystems<\/a>, for an engaging industry talk tailored to students considering careers in digital hardware design.<\/p>\n

Drawing directly on his own transition from Carleton to a professional engineering role, Christian walked through what it actually means to work as a junior FPGA designer \u2014 from day-to-day responsibilities and tool workflows to the gap between academic projects and real industry expectations. He addressed common misconceptions about FPGA careers and offered candid, practical advice for students preparing to make that same transition.<\/p>\n

This session was part of an ongoing series of industry engagements with Fidus Microsystems<\/a>, bringing working engineers into our courses to share experience and connect with students directly.<\/p>\n
