New article alert! Have you seen our new publication in the Social Work With Groups<\/a> journal? Our Lab Manager and Research Coordinator Ruxi Gheorghe<\/a>, Research Associate Sarah Tarshis<\/a>, and Lab Co-Director Katherine Occhiuto<\/a> recently published an article titled Student Research Peer Support Group: Reflections on Mutual Aid in Qualitative Research<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through their qualitative research at the SIM Lab, the authors came together to develop a peer support group that focused on experiential, collaborative, and reflective learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by core tenets of mutual aid, this group was critical for the authors’ training and learning\u2014especially considering the SIM Lab is the first and only social work-specific, simulation-based research lab in North America. The research engaged through the Lab is unique, so opportunities for collaboration and support are more limited. This was particularly the case during the COVID-19 pandemic context in which this peer support group was formed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In describing the mechanics and benefits of this research peer support group, the article highlights several recommendations for doctoral students who may wish to form similar networks, as well as for faculty members who may wish to support such endeavors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
